International Organization for Migration: Facilitating the Return of Citizens and Development Projects to Support Recovery and Stability in Sudan Port Sudan: April 23 Lieutenant General Al-Sadiq Ismail Mahmoud, Advisor to the Sovereign Council on Organizations and Humanitarian Affairs, met with Ms. Song Ah Lee, Deputy Director General for Management and Reform at the International Organization for Migration Ms. Song Ah Lee reaffirmed the Organization’s commitment to continuing its efforts in Sudan, with a focus on facilitating the return of citizens to their regions of origin, as well as implementing sustainable development projects that contribute to supporting stability and improving livelihoods. Ms. Lee expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome she received during her visit, noting the good relations she has with Sudan and the Sudanese people, as well as the positive cooperation she observed during the visit. She explained that the organization’s activities covered the states of Khartoum, Al-Jazirah, Kassala, and Gedaref, where the organization works to support programs facilitating the voluntary return of citizens, in parallel with the implementation of development interventions aimed at promoting community recovery. For his part, Lieutenant General Al-Sadiq Ismail Mahmoud, Advisor to the Sovereign Council on Organizations and Humanitarian Affairs, praised the active role played by the International Organization for Migration, emphasizing its commitment to standing by the Sudanese people at this stage. He also described the organization’s return to operations from within the capital, Khartoum, as an important step, noting that it is the first international office to resume its activities from within the country, thereby strengthening humanitarian response efforts and supporting the path toward stability in the country.
